So many things taking place and all good! We are having an amazing week but no time to update you. I will next week. The  week is being better than we could have imagined. We have had the chance to interview a lot of young european directors and others who are worldwide known as Costa-Gavras.

Another reminder for 1º bach B

Remember you must prepare your oral presentation this next week. 2-3 minutes.
Think of someone you admire and who has done something challenging that may have changed history.
I can think of some examples:
Aung Sang Suu Kyi        Amelia Earhart             J.K Rowling                      Rosa Parks
Marie Curie                     Hedy Lamarr

OK It can also be men...

FILM REVIEW

FOR THOSE WHO WENT TO THE CINEMA TODAY, LET ME REMIND YOU YOUR ASSIGNMENT:

WRITE A FILM REVIEW
AS THERE WERE MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS WITH ME (2º ESO TO 2º BACH) THERE ISN'T  A GOOD MODEL THAT SUITS EVERY LEVEL

For a basic writing you should answer questions like these:

1. What is the title of the film?
2. What genre is it? Can you compare/relate it to others?
3. What is it about?
4. Is it based on a book?
5. Where is the film set?
 6. When is the film set?
7. Who stars in the film?
 8. Who plays the main role(s)?
 9. Who is your favourite character in the film? (Why?)
10. What kind of person would like this film?

You can follow this pattern.

  • To inform. The review needs to tell people who is in the film, who it is by and where or when readers can see it.
  • To describe. The review should describe the story, characters and some of the action - without spoiling the plot or giving too much away!
  • To analyse. A good review gives an opinion on whether the film is good or not and why.
  • To advise. Finally, the review should tell the reader whether or not to go and see the film.

For a better review have a look at the following links

And you can also read the reviews of the film in a post in my blog. You may find them a bit difficult to understand since they come from broadsheets (The Guardian, The Telegraph)

2 ESO PEMAR. Can you rap? I can see Nica doing something similar. What do you think?

La La Land

La La Land is winner of seven Golden Globes, recipient of 11 Bafta nominations, and the expected winner of the 89th Academy Award for Best Picture

The Erasmus + team is going to the cinema this week. This was our second option but you can watch it at  Multicines Norte in VOS

Remember this great section from The New York Times, anatomy of a scene, where the director talks about a scene in the movie.

No good for you

If he is not good for you, just break up with him, a good new year's decision.
Another fantastic way to start the year is to improve your English. So here a simple and amusing  way to help you.

Learn songs by heart, imitate the pronunciation, sing!
