The SAFTAS FESTIVAL GOES ON

This is the beautiful film we have just watched in the company of the director Mehdi Charef. Despite the heat in the cinema and the tiredness after another extremely long day we really loved this great film. Write it down in your agendas. It is worth watching.

A day with Costa Gavras

Our first day at the festival was Gavras day. He first had lunch with us at Coppelia. Then we all went to see "Music Box" in the local film "Le Kid". After the film  he answered a lot of the questions from the students.  In the afternoon he signed books  and and in the evening we all went back to the cinema to see  Isabelle Ingold's documentary "Highway rest stop". What a day!

FESTIVAL SAFTAS

FESTIVAL SAFTAS  EN LA FLÈCHE, Francia  IES AS BARXAS

12 alumnos e 2 profesoras (Palmira Calvar e María González)  do proxecto SAFTAS (Students academy of film and theatre awards) ERASMUS+ do IES AS BARXAS en Moaña, participarán durante unha semana no festival final do proxecto na cidade de La Flèche en Francia.

 A instituto francés Constant d’Estournelles preséntanos un programa tremendamente atractivo na que contaremos cun presidente de honra de gran nivel, o coñecido Costa Gavras a quen as nosas alumnas entrevistaron o ano pasado durante o festival de cine de Angers.  Nesta ocasión virá acompañado da súa muller, a tamén recoñecida directora e productora Michèle Ray Gavras. Con eles os nosos alumnos verán unha das súas películas Music Box e poderán comentala con eles. Non serán os únicos directores presentes no festival. Tamén contaremos cos directores Isabelle Ingold e Mehdi Charef con quen veremos dúas das súas películas e teremos a posibilidade de falar das mesmas cos creadores. Pero esa non é a principal actividade do festival. Trátase do festival final dun proxecto  sobre cine e  teatro  de 3 anos de duración  entre 6 institutos europeos nos que presentaremos as nosas propias curtametraxes e as nosas obras de teatro  a concurso.

CINE

O tema proposto era o da brecha xeneracional. No noso caso a alumna Isabel Cascante escribiu un guión sobre un avó que vive nunha residencia de 3ª idade e ante primeiros síntomas de pérdida de memoria ve contrariado como lle restrinxen temporalmente as saídas. Como aínda non é consciente do seu problema rebélase contra a norma demostrando unha gran lucidez por momentos. A familia, que obviamente entende e comparte a decisión do persoal da residencia, acaba por entendelo tamén a el.

A curta, rodada en inglés conta con David Middleton, un coñecido inglés asentado no Morrazo dende hai anos, no papel do avó. David mostrouse encantado dende o principio de formar parte do proxecto. Tamén participan os profesores Benigno Nerga e Eugenia Fernández como filla e xenro e  os alumnos Francis Drake e Marta Hernández como netos entre os actores principales. Na realización da curta,  que titulamos “ Connections” participaron máis de vinte alumnos e outros profesores e estivo coordinada polo profesor Seso Durán.

Contamos coa amabilidade do persoal de AFAMO que nos permitiu rodar algunhas esceas nas súas instalacións.

TEATRO

Con respecto á obra de teatro o escenario proposto era o bunker refuxio dunha escola nunha zona en guerra. A partir desa premisa os nosos alumnos    Inés Amoedo Ortega,   Estela Sobral, Adara  Rodríguez, Noelia Alonso de 3 Eso e Francis  Drake de 4 ESO elaboran un texto no que un grupo de alumnos dun instituto se refuxian nun bunker no parece ser un  simulacro.  Mentres esperan a que o simulacro remate comparten os seus medos, desexos e déixannos ver o mellor e peor de cada un deles. Mentres tanto o presidente do país e un alto mando discuten a seguinte operación de guerra que terá que ser levada a cabo por dous soldados que se cuestionan as ordes  que reciben dos seus superiores.

8 alumnos, Miguel Fernández, David Pereiro e Pablo Cordeiro ademais dos xa mencionados como autores do texto, serán os encargados de por en escea a obra “The choice”  na que levamos meses traballando, asesorados pola experiencia da dramaturga Vanesa Sotelo.

 Os outros catro alumnos terán que formar parte do xurado e exercer de maestros de ceremonia na sesión de clausura, que se celebrará o xoves 19, e  para a que traballarán con profesionais durante varios días.

Os alumnos vivirán aloxados por familias francesas e compartirán experiencias con alumnos de Italia, Grecia, Turkía, Polonia, e Francia, os seis países implicados no proxecto.

Life of Brian review

Some students from AS BARXAS involved in the project SAFTAS - ERASMUS+ attended the festival premiers in Angers. One of the restrospectives of the festival was about the British group Monty Python. After watching the film they prepared and filmed this video review.

COSTA-GAVRAS

COSTA- GAVRAS received the CINEEUROPA AWARD  last Saturday in SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA.
He will be the President  of our SAFTAS SPRING FESTIVAL IN LA FLECHE in April.
During the festival, apart from the Saftas awards for short film and theatre play, there will also be the Costa-Gavras award, chosen by him among all the short films and theatre plays shown by the six countries involved in the project.

SAFTAS-ERASMUS+ AS BARXAS
A group of students from SAFTAS -ERASMUS + have been attending the theatre plays performed in Moaña (CIRCUÍTOS TEATRAIS) this month. Yesterday we went to the last play UBÚ REI by Talía Teatro and as they had done in the previous ones the team interviewed the actors. Very interesting play and amazing performance.

Festival internacional de Curtametraxes FICBUEU 2017

This week the FICBUEU is taking place.
 The Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary from 9th to 16th September. Everyday about 4 or 5 short films are shown, and there are also a lot of parallel activities: interviews with directors and actors,  masterclasses, talks and a lot more.

Yesterday I encouraged students from Erasmus + to come to see some of the short films, nobody could make it. But I  was there. In the afternoon I was in  the audience of the recording of the programme "El septimo vicio" for Radio 3, which will be broadcast this evening at 8. The space held  interviews to two international filmmakers and  the Spanish Alberto Taibo who participate in FICBUEU and was  complemented with live music by the musician and teacher at  AS BARXAS  Seso Durán.
Fantastic experience.
I enjoyed the short films too and when we were leaving, David Henández, the photography teacher we had last year (Erasmus group) and who is collaborating with the festival, took us this nice photo.

FESTIVAL DE CANS

One of the last activities the Erasmus+ group attended was the Cans Festival at the end of May. Being so busy with exams and the last academical tasks we had to leave the editing process for the summer. Believe it or not some students came at the end of June and a few days in July to have it ready and we are proud to show it to you. Thanks to Xián, Andrea, David, and the really hardworking Sabela, Susana, Nerea and Isabel. 

Thank you to María too, the French teacher who was very kind to take the students to and from Cans.

I  hope you are having a nice summer. We went on working when most of your started your summer holidays and we could finish the edition of the short piece our Saftas Students prepared to perform in Nea Peramos, Greece, during the spring festival. It is  brief but intense and very well performed by Raquel Paredes and Luzmar Cordeiro. Thank you to all the students involved in the project and specially to the ones working on this one.

Photography workshop

                             

On Wednesday we  had our second   on the photography workshop led by David Hernández. We are learning a lot but need some time to practise.

On Friday we learnt how to capture a moving fast person with and without any blur. 
For the last ones (students from different schools enjoy playing games at COMICON in Moaña) I used ISO 100, 1/500 and f 5.6
