Last year Jamaal prepared  this great rap as a farewell.  I think we were in 3 ESO BILNGUAL that day. I've never uploaded it and since I couldn't properly say goodbye this year as I was not at school in May, I thought I should at least share the video with you. This is a band from Boiro ( A Coruña). Some of you know the place since it is the small town where the Olloboi festival takes place.

My darling is one of the songs from their last work "Sandwina". I find it really touching. I love her voice and the video as well.

Known as "Pergamino Vindel" the manuscript of 7 poems/songs written by Martin Codax will be in Vigo till March 2018

This has nothing to do with English but with our history and culture. Some of the students from school will be lucky to go and see it at El Museo del mar in Vigo. Those who are not going to be taken should mention it at home and go with the whole family. This is your chance. If you miss it you will have to go to New York to the Morgan Library to see it.

Have you got a talent?

I don't really like music shows such us "The Voice", "Operación Triunfo", etc. but you can also learn with them if they are in English, especially if you like the songs. There are lots of examples. This is one that surprised the jury.

Across the Universe

Watching DETROIT this weekend I remembered the riots also present in Across the Universe 

Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time.

WELCOME EVERYBODY TO YOUR FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL FOR THE ACADEMICAL YEAR 2017/18

So this is your English teacher for this year and here you will sometimes find stuff to make your English improve a bit. It all depends on you. If you really want to speak English, coming to my lessons three times a week won’t be enough, It won’t be anything really. English is everywhere and I will constantly encourage you to listen to music, to watch films and  TV series, videos in youtube, to read interesting books, to sing, to speak every time you have the chance. All in English. FURIOUS MONKEY HOUSE

"Furious Monkey House" is a band from Pontevedra, Spain, formed by Mariña, Carlota, Amaya, Irene and Manu in March 2014.

The band recorded a five-track demo before recording their debut album between February and March 2015 at  Planta Sónica (Vigo), which some of our students from IES AS BARXAS, now in 1 BACH,  visited  two years ago, and Abbey Road Studios (London), the famous studios where The Beatles, The Rolling Stones,  and many other groups have been recording their albums.

So what is special about them? Their age! They are just teenagers like those of you who are in 1st or 2nd ESO  so they have to go to school, do homework, take exams and on top of that they  make great music!
SO HOMEWORK FOR THE SUMMER: LEARN THE LYRICS, SING THEIR SONGS. A GREAT WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH.
