Anatomy of a scene

I have had the idea of sharing with  you the section Anatomy of a scene  in THE NEW YORK TIMES for ages. The day has come.  Those who like the cinema  may find these videos really interesting and a great way to learn English. The director explains in a couple of minutes some aspects of the shooting, describes the scene, explains the difficulties they went through while shooting and so on.  Don't worry too much if you don't understand everything. You can watch it several times and if you like the film, watch it later.
Let's start with The revenant and his Argentinian director, Alejandro G. Inárritu, whose English may be easier to understand.

OLLOBOI 2016

Yesterday we spent the day in Boiro at the Festival Olloboi, where teachers and students attended different workshops in the morning with great speakers such as Alfonso Zarauza (Os fenómenos), Manuel González, Carlos Ares, Sabela Hermida, and the guys from El metodo sueco.
After lunch we went to a shipyard, where we saw the film Crebinsky. Amazing spot to watch the movie and surprise, surprise both main actor ( Miguel de Lira) and director ( Enrique Otero ) were there to talk about different aspects of the film and  answer the audience's questions.
The last stop of the day was the ceremony in which AS BARXAS got one of the most important prizes: the Zamburriori, which means a recognition to all the video work that has been made at  AS BARXAS.
It is really a shame more students couldn't come, they would have enjoyed and learn a lot! Next time.

SHAKESPEARE IN LONDON. OXFORD COMPETITION.

After a few weeks work in a very busy time for all of us, my students from 4 ESO C  have managed to finish the video in time to enter the Shakespeare in London Competition.
The prize for the winner?
Four days in London for the whole class and tickets to see a play at Shakespeare's famous Globe Theatre.

They have chosen a scene from MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and Isabel Cascante has rewritten it travelling to the future.

If you like it, you can vote for it. But not yet, you must wait until 17th May and then you will have two weeks to vote!
Hope you enjoy it.  We had a lot of fun!

Fandicosta, a local factory, on fire.

As I was driving home after school today I was shocked by a huge cloud of smoke coming from the factory Fandicosta in Domaio. I stopped to take some photos and share immediately with friends. I also uploaded some to my facebook page. During the first half an hour I still had the hope that they would manage to  stop it but soon realised it would be impossible to control it  with just a couple of fire trucks. I couldn't get my eyes off  the building, which kept sending darker and darker clouds and really scary explosions and flames.
All the time there I couldn't help thinking of the  men and women, some of them my students' parents,  who won't be able to go to work tomorrow and maybe for a while.
By 8 pm the police had closed the main roads as well as Rande Bridge. They had also evacuated the closest neighbours. Yovanna, who had a Maths exam on Tuesday, was not even allowed to take her notes and books, or that is what she mentioned when I saw her near the park.
One hour later I had  a bit of a headache and an itchy feeling in my throat so I decided to leave the place going back to Moaña and looking for an alternative way to get home.

We have been advised to stay at home with doors and windows shut since the toxic cloud might be dangerous.

If I don't wake up tomorrow, at least you will have a text to read in class. Good night!
